Broncos have not decided if Marshall will play on Saturday

The Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall missed the preseason game at San Francisco last week for attending his court case in Atlanta. Considering his recent performance, he might miss another preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks Saturday night.

Marshall has been unhappy with the Broncos over their refusal to give him a new contract or trade him. He also felt upset when he knew that players were told by a staffer not to say they were happy for him after acquittal on battery charges last week. He skipped quite a few days of practices and has fallen behind of the Broncos’ new offense. Since returning to the practice field, Marshall had spent two days working almost exclusively with the scout team.

That may be the main reason why the team still hesitated in deciding whether to let Marshall play on Saturday’s preseason game. The Broncos also has not decided on whether to have safety Brian Dawkins make his debut in a broncos jersey because the player just returned to practice this week after a surgery repairing his injured right hand.

Broncos WR Marshall returned to camp from injury

After skipping over a week of workouts, Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall returned to practice on Sunday. And he was also found not guilty by a jury in Atlanta of misdemeanor battery against his ex-girlfriend.

“For almost a year and a half now I’ve been swearing to my teammates and the community that I’m not that guy that they were portraying me to be,” Marshall said about the trial and the case made against him. “Finally, to stand in front of a jury where they finally see both sides and for it to be a fair stage, the truth finally came out.”

Marshall caught 206 passes, 13 for touchdowns the passed two seasons.

Veteran WR Lloyd was signed by Broncos

With the WR Brandon Marshall's contract issue unsettled, the Broncos made a step on Monday to expand its WR team. Not by a new deal with Marshall, but by signing free-agent wide receiver Brandon Lloyd.

Lloyd has been playing as wide receiver for 7 years. He was picked by the 49ers in the he fourth round in the 2003 NFL Draft. Then he played for the Redskins and the Bears. In total, Lloyd had participated in 79 regular-season games and started 47 of them with 15 touchdowns.

Will signing veteran WR Lloyd cause Marshall's plan of seeking new contract to be vain? I guess a that is a threat, but who can tell the result before it really comes? Let's just wait and see.
